NSW Minerals Council CEO Stephen Galilee says the current energy crisis is due to supply and demand issues, as the “technology that is supposed to replace” coal and gas “is not ready yet”.
“We’re reducing supply of electricity in our grid right now, we’re not replacing it,” he told Sky News host Chris Smith.
Mr Galilee said “the biggest risk to our energy grid” right now is coal-fired power plants closing “before what is supposed to replace them is ready”. “We all want lower emissions … but rushing the process before the technology is ready is putting all of it at risk.”
