Griffith University’s Rowan Callick says he has been “very impressed” with new Prime Minister Anthony Albanese’s leadership and diplomacy.
“This is the real difference between us and our big strategic competitor China, we’ve got friends, we’ve got allies and we’re trying to make those friendships and alliances count,” he told Sky News host Chris Kenny.
Mr Callick said the government had travelled to Australia’s diplomatic partners and “made the right speeches” – whereas China is mired in both foreign and domestic troubles.
