The suspect has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder
Police investigating a serious assault at a shopping precinct in which a man was stabbed in the neck have arrested a suspect.
The victim remains in hospital. As the police investigation continued today, senior officers promised a 'heightened' presence in the area as so-called 'section 60' powers were invoked which give police more powers and stop and search people. One passer-by has told the M.E.N. that the incident was 'an unprovoked attack'. "I’m a nurse and just helped passing by," the woman, who has asked to stay anonymous, said.
