A 25-year-old man is in police custody after allegedly shooting a 15-year-old girl with a crossbow inside an Aldi supermarket in Booval, south of Brisbane. 9News
Police and paramedics were rushed to the scene in Booval after reports of a man firing arrows.
"At around Railway Street Booval ... it is believed a witness has identified that male person discharge that bow and arrow at a female jogger who was passing by. "The male person has then continued on to a vehicle ... it is believed that a male person may have discharged that bow at a vehicle en route while he was heading towards the Aldi supermarket. ""What I am aware of is that upon discharging that bow within the Aldi store and striking the 15-year-old female some bystanders have bravely acosted that male person and detained that male person until police have arrived," he said.
"We are still yet to establish who that female jogger may have been. She still may not be aware that a weapon was fired in her direction we are still yet to establish her identity and there is a vehicle as well in the area that we believe may have been fired at," Insp. McQueen said. Crime scenes have been declared in South Station Road and at the supermarket. Traffic diversions are currently in place.Inspector McQueen said the man was assisting with the police investigation.
