COMMUNITY leaders are demanding urgent action after a 16-year-old girl was stripped and bashed by a group of youths on the streets of Alice Springs.
Teen girl stripped, bashed in vicious 'tit for tat' assault caught on film in Alice Springs CBD: 'Worst footage I’ve ever seen'
Officers said the 16-year-old victim was not involved in the initial brawl before she was attacked by up to 10 other girls. Yipirinya School principal Gavin Morris said the footage was the worst he had seen in 25 years working as an educator.“It’s in relation to revenge, a tit for tat between community members around a spiralling out-of-control crisis point of escalation in behaviour, which is getting hidden behind this cultural theme of payback.”
“I don’t say that lightly and I’m not trying to sensationalise it, and I certainly hope I don’t encourage more young people to involve themselves in that behaviour… because it’s outrageous, and those young people need to be brought to justice.”
