A Queensland teenager has been left gutted after his application to join the Navy was rejected because he has an autoimmune condition.Jaxon's mother says the family will appeal the decisionJaxon Irons received a letter a week ago stating that he was "medically unsuitable" for Australian Defence Force service due to his coeliac disease."So shocked and then really angry," Ms Austin Irons said."I feel like it's actually such a commonplace thing these days.

"It just doesn't really affect me ... because obviously there is a lot of gluten-free foods," he said.'There's nothing it stops him doing' For people with the condition, small amounts of gluten can damage the lining of the small intestine, which prevents the proper absorption of food nutrients. "Gluten remains a significant component of ADF ration packs and for that reason people with the disease may not be suitable for employment," the spokesperson said.Claim decision is 'discrimination'
