A teenager was fatally stabbed on a Route 472 bus in Lewisham, London. Paramedics responded but were unable to save the boy. Police have cordoned off the area and are working to identify and arrest the suspects. The incident has sparked concern about safety and rising crime in the area.
Paramedics treated the teenager at the scene but he died shortly after they arrived, police said. Schools in the area had returned on Monday after the Christmas break.
Sargent appealed for information from the public, adding that police cordons remained in place and the community would see “an enhanced police presence” in the area. The man, who asked not to be named, added: “There is no discipline in this country, yet the mayor gets a knighthood. Knives are more prevalent than ever, how can someone get on a public bus to go home from school, work or wherever, and be in fear of their life being taken away. It’s shocking.”
This was down sharply from 21 teenage deaths in the capital in 2023. The youngest victim in 2024 was aged 14.

The father was sentenced to 14 years and six months while the mother received three years. Prosecutors argued that the father trained his son to shoot, failed to secure his weapons, and allowed the boy to conceal a handgun and bullets in his backpack.
