Nima Rinji Sherpa has returned home to Nepal, after climbing 14 of the world's peaks above 8,000 metres and is calling on the younger generation of Sherpas to rise above the stereotype of being support climbers and embrace their potential as top-tier athletes.
A teenager who has become the youngest person to climb more than a dozen of the world's highest peaks has returned home to Nepal .
Nepal's Tourism Minister Badri Prasad Pandey joined members of the climbing community and locals who gathered outside Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu to offer flowers and scarfs to the new record-holder.Nima Rinji, who comes from a well-known climbing family in the community, thanked his supporters and said "it was a difficult mission".
Nima Rinji said breaking this record was a "tribute to every Sherpa who has ever dared to dream beyond the traditional boundaries".
