An 18-year-old man was arrested for allegedly assaulting officers and obstructing the investigation after a 17-year-old was shot in the leg in Sydney's southwest. Both individuals refused to provide information about the shooting.

A teenager was shot in the leg in Sydney 's southwest on Friday night, prompting an investigation after the teen refused to cooperate with police. The 17-year-old, accompanied by an 18-year-old man, arrived at the emergency department of Bankstown Hospital around 7:40 pm with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his right leg. Police responded to the hospital, but both men declined to provide details about the incident.

The 18-year-old man was subsequently arrested for concealing an indictable offense. Police allege that he assaulted and injured two officers and resisted arrest. 'He was taken to Bankstown Police Station where it will be further alleged that he made a number of threats towards officers,' stated NSW Police. The teenager was also charged with several offenses, including concealing a serious indictable offense, intimidating a police officer, and assaulting a police officer. He was denied bail and is scheduled to appear before Parramatta Local Court on Saturday. Following an investigation, police seized a Blue Nissan Pulsar parked on the corner of Eldridge Rd and Artegall St in Bankstown. It is believed that the two teenagers used the car to travel to the hospital. Anyone with dashcam or mobile phone footage of the car arriving at the location, or any information regarding the shooting, is urged to contact Bankstown Police Station or Crime Stoppers
