A 52-year-old woman dies after being stabbed on Christmas Day, with a man in custody and two teenagers in the house at the time being cared for.
A 52-year-old woman has died in the Royal Hobart Hospital after allegedly being stabbed at a house in Hobart's eastern shore yesterday afternoon.
Police officers found the woman with serious stab wounds to her upper chest when they arrived at the Mornington house at about 1:30pm on Christmas Day.Police officers believe the man and woman were known to each other.Police said they were being provided with support services.Detective Acting Inspector Leah Adams said "any incident of family violence is of utmost concern to Tasmania Police".
"While Christmas and New Year period bring people together, historically, family violence occurrences between intimate partners or ex-partners increases over this time."
