Hannibal Mejbri has started two matches running for the first time for Man United and is set to line up again on Saturday.
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag believes Hannibal Mejbri has already become an example for the rest of his teammates after two successive starts.
Mejbri had only made three appearances for the first team prior to his promotion at Turf Moor, where he completed the full 90 minutes before lasting 71 minutes in midweek. "I don’t think [his adaptation has been] that quick. Before I came in here, he was already in the first team, he made his debut. Last year he was on loan and this year he is making progress.
Mejbri has started the last two games ahead of Donny van de Beek, who appeared in the matchday squad for the first time this season in the win over Burnley. The preference for Mejbri over Van de Beek highlights the insignificance of reputation. “That is definitely the truth," Ten Hag agreed. "I don’t look at status. I look to the performance players are bringing.
