Labor bled votes to both the left and the right to lose the recent Northern Territory election in a hammering. Its new leader says the party will now review its policies.
Days before the Northern Territory election, the more pessimistic among Territory Labor 's loyal staffers were predicting they would lose government and be whittled down to eight or nine seats.Labor members awoke on August 25 — the day after the election — having won just four seats, and maybe a fifth, with the majority of outgoing chief minister Eva Lawler's frontbench all given their marching orders.
"We talked to people about integrity, we talked to people about the environment, we listened to people about their concerns on fracking, their concerns about crime," she said. "I hope that Labor can see that, looking at the election results, if want a right-wing approach, they'll vote for the CLP," Ms Dorras-Walker said.Labor now has a long period of soul-searching ahead of it, to try and rediscover what it truly believes are its core values.
