How Motor Trend tests cars: Yeah, we drift and do burnouts, too, but that’s not how we get the best results. Get the story right here.
hasn't been engineered to run optimally on 91, we'll allow a can of octane boost to be added, or if a racetrack dispenses higher-octane gasoline, we'll use that for lapping. For electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles , we also top off the battery packs with an electrical source a couple hundred yards from the test surface. For hybrids, we attempt to charge the batteries as best we can by driving a few miles in charge-optimized or charge-retaining mode, if available.
Next, we ensure the tires are inflated to the manufacturer-recommended pressure, often stipulated on the doorjamb or under the fuel door. Occasionally these displayed values are for the maximum number passengers and max cargo load , so we often dive into the owner's manual to locate"normal" cold-inflation pressures.

Used 1999 TVR Chimaera 4.0 with PAS, huge history for saleHi, my name’s Alex, and I’m… *deep breath*... selling my TVR. As you may have guessed, I don’t really want to. But family matters dictate that needs must. The car is a 1999 4.0-litre with the optional power steering. It also has the optional TVR logos embroidered in the head rests, and comes finished in Crystal Verde metallic with green half-hide interior and grey overmats (there are green overmats in the boot). Also included is the original tonneau and the protective bag for the targa section of the roof. I bought this car between the two lockdowns, seeking something a little selfish that I could take out in the evenings after my daughter had gone to bed. In the intervening years it’s become a car that’s sparked an enthusiasm for all things with four wheels in her, as well as a source of ever-present joy (and, occasionally, despair) for me. Why did I choose this one? Well, funnily enough, I wasn’t certain about the colour scheme when I saw it advertised, but I went along and looked at it anyway because, well, that’s what you do when you want to buy a car, isn’t it – you go and see as many as you can. Even the ones you don’t really fancy. Turns out that when I saw this one in the flesh, I did fancy it. And it drove brilliantly. And it had the best service history of any TVR for sale in the country. There’s a stack of bills and invoices that even includes things like the original order form, the order acknowledgements, build confirmation and even credit notes for the deposit. Then there’s a service book that contains the following stamps: 03/1999 - 937 miles - TVR Engineering Ltd, Blackpool 11/1999 - 6,616 miles - TVR Engineering Ltd, Blackpool 05/2000 - 8,581 miles - TVR Engineering Ltd, Blackpool 09/2001 - 13,915 miles - TVR Engineering Ltd, Blackpool 04/2002 - 16,481 miles - Fernhurst Motor Co, Haslemere 05/2003 - 20,432 miles - Fernhurst Motor Co, Haslemere 04/2004 - 22,176 miles - Fernhurst Motor Co, Haslemere 04/2005 - 23,548 miles - Fernhurst Motor Co, Hasleme
