The best things to do in San Antonio this week: Foreigner, Donna Summer musical
Classical music is back when the musicians of the San Antonio play the first of a planned series of three concerts this week. So is classic rock. And disco. Here’s a look a the week’s arts and entertainment highlights:the slow-burning prequel to “Breaking Bad,” kicks off its final season. Look for a couple of very familiar faces to pop up sometime during the season’s run of shows.
a jukebox show digging into the disco queen’s life, is the next offering in the Broadway in San Antonio series. In the show, three actresses play Summer at three different points in her life. The hit-heavy score includes “She Works Hard for the Money,” “Love to Love You Baby” and “Hot Stuff.” Opens Tuesday. 7:30 p.m. Tuesday-Thursday, 8 p.m. Friday, 2 and 8 p.m. Saturday and 2 and 7:30 p.m. April 24, Majestic Theatre, 224 E. Houston. $45-$125,kick off a three-concert series with a program of works by Verdi, Beethoven, Debussy and Tchaikovsky. Stefan Sanders will conduct.
7:30 p.m. Thursday-Friday, First Baptist Church, 515 McCullough. $20 for the concert and $10 for parking,is the movie Nicolas Cage was born to make, or at least the movie he was gearing up to make with straight-to-streaming thrillers like “Kill Chain” and “Vengeance.” In the action comedy, he plays Nick Cage, an actor up for any paying gig who gets plunged into a real-life crisis.
