The interest in regional and rural Victoria intensified on WednesdayThat's because regional Victoria is "on the cusp" of meeting one of the benchmarks needed to get to step three — a rolling average of fewer than five new cases a day.This figure is calculated by averaging out the number of new coronavirus cases recorded over the past 14 days.
over the course of Victoria's pandemic, these are cases where, after investigation, contact tracing teams cannot determine how a person became infected with coronavirus. That gives contact tracers 48 hours to investigate a case and make an initial assessment on whether the source of the infection is known or not.
