The biographer of hedge fund legend Julian Robertson had a better sense than most as to the mark he would ultimately leave on the investment industry.

Once Tiger Management was closed, Robertson instead used his capital and his wisdom to seed his most promising analysts, spawning the Tiger Cubs.

Those cubs in turn did the same, creating a lineage of hedge fund traders that control hundreds of billions of dollars of capital.The most prominent cubs, Tiger Global, Lone Pine, Coatue, and Viking Global, are individually among the biggest hedge funds in the world, and collectively a powerful force.
