One of the first travellers to enter Tasmania yesterday after borders reopened to hotspots has tested positive to COVID-19, with Premier Peter Gutwein saying the health system is working.
Tasmania has recorded its first case of COVID-19 since the state opened its borders to the rest of the country yesterday.
Mr Gutwein said the man was an approved traveller who had met all the necessary vaccination and pre-testing requirements, having received a negative COVID test prior to his departure. "Around the time of their arrival they reported being alerted by New South Wales Health they were a contact because they had been at a hospitality venue in Newcastle last weekend where there was significant transmission of coronavirus," he said.
