Now, aged 53, Sheen is returning to play Salieri: the bitter, older artist who is fiercely resentful of Mozart’s talent and vows to destroy him.“I remember thinking, as a younger actor, that it must be quite a challenging role to play Salieri – that it would be quite scary at that point later in your career,” Sheen says.
“At the time, it weirdly got turned into me wanting to come home and fight Nazis and stop Brexit. But really I’d just got to a point in my life where I had resources, and I wanted to make use of that.”Daniel Boud
