When driving through the towns and villages of Nottinghamshire, signs welcoming people to an area will often contain the name of a European location that it is 'twinned' with. Farms surrounding the town are also considered to be local landmarks. It is twinned with Worksop in Bassetlaw and the two towns have worked on numerous projects together over the years.
Ohio's Mansfield is a particularly prominent area, having been established in 1808 and with a population that has continued to rapidly grow since then. The 1994 blockbuster The Shawshank Redemption was shot at several locations across the town.
