Qantas passengers were kept stranded on tarmac around the country on Sunday night, being told only that it was a “computer issue,” the real problem has now been revealed.
Qantas has revealed it was a faulty plane maintenance communication system outage that kept its passengers stranded on the tarmac across the country on Sunday evening, compounding the headache for travellers navigating Australia’s already-stretched aviation sector.
Dr. Philip Nesci, a former chief information officer and IBRS adviser said it was unusual that there wasn’t a backup system on standby.“Without knowing the details I imagine that there are a number of components in the communication chain, so they would have to diagnose, identify the fault and test and restore,” Dr Nesci said.
At Sydney Airport, 23 flights were cancelled across multiple airlines as a result of engineering issues andthat have plagued airlines since Australia reopened its domestic borders.
