US prosecutors have recommended Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes spend 15 years in prison and pay $US800 million to investors defrauded by her blood testing start-up.Elizabeth Holmes was found guilty of conspiracy and wire fraud in January due to claims about her company TheranosIt collapsed in 2015 after a series of articles suggesting its devices were flawedHolmes will be sentenced next week.

Holmes earlier urged US District Judge Edward Davila in San Jose, California not to send her to prison. Prosecutors said she lied to investors from 2010 to 2015 by promising Theranos Inc's technology could run many tests on one drop of blood from a finger prick. On Monday, the judge rejected her requests for a new trial, including over a claim a key prosecution witness visited her at home and made statements which undermined his testimony.
