Two off-duty police officers in Sydney's inner west were allegedly assaulted by three men while intervening in an argument. One officer was seriously injured and hospitalized.
A third man has been arrested in connection with the alleged assault of two off-duty police officers in Newtown last week. The incident occurred on Enmore Road when the two 25-year-old officers intervened in an argument between three unknown men. During the altercation, the officers were allegedly assaulted, with one being knocked to the ground and repeatedly punched and kicked in the head.
He was rendered unconscious and received CPR from an off-duty nurse before being transported to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in a serious but stable condition. Danai Deneiderhavsein, 18, and Koby Weaver, 20, were arrested last Thursday. Police confirmed on Tuesday the arrest of a third man involved in the incident. Last week, a court heard that the alleged assault was captured on a mobile phone video, including an apparent stomp on one officer's head that was audible in the footage. The court was presented with a short video taken from above, which did not capture the entire incident but showed the end of the fight. The footage depicted a group of men engaged in a scuffle in the middle of the road, with one man appearing to be on the ground
