On the third night of protests in Minneapolis, bang after bang sounds as fires burn across the city, while protesters holding placards flee screaming and police fire non-lethal rounds.
Donald Trump calls protesters in Minneapolis "thugs" and vows that "when the looting starts, the shooting starts" after rioters angered by the death of African-American man George Floyd break into a city police station and set it on fire.
But Mr Lopez said they were yet to be seen, as demonstrators started clashing with police as night began falling. "It's a culmination of many things. I think that the relationship between the black community and police has been bad for many, many years," Mr Lopez added. The reporter attempted to show exactly how tense the situation in front of him was, but by this point in the interview it had escalated and he was forced to back away.To which he replied: "Ah, not at the moment."Moments later, another blast sounded behind him and protesters started to flee the scene.
"The police have been deploying pepper spray … on people who are being most antagonistic. Those are also, I believe, non-lethal rounds firing in the background," he said of the noise behind him."There's a number of people here who are interested in actual change and are here to demonstrate peacefully."But I think there are others here who are looking to get into a confrontation with police officers.
