"I wouldn't normally spend that kind of money, but we've had a difficult year and I really wanted to make it special for the kids this summer," she said. Amy doesn't remember reading about Australian standards during her research – and would like to see more advice for consumers regarding these devices.
"Whereas for example a playground similarly does not have a mandatory standard but for the most part it's a permanent fixture so you can have the regulator come and provide an evaluation … there's a lot of areas of concern where there's not sufficient governance."
