Another $60 million worth of toll relief is available for Sydney motorists to claim, the NSW government revealed on Thursday. Those who hit the toll relief threshold on trips between July 1 and September 29 can now claim their share of money back for the last quarter. More than 11,000 motorists have received rebates over $1000 since the toll relief program started, with a total of 224,000 claims made. Motorists are able to claim up to $340 per week for each licence plate number.
Other car-reliant suburbs Auburn, Merrylands and Marsden Park are also nearing the $1 million mark. The current toll system has “created complexity, inefficiency, inequities and unfairness, with those in Western Sydney financially impacted the most,” NSW Roads minister John Graham said. “The data tells us that it is the people whose journeys start and end in Western Sydney that are claiming the lion’s share of toll relief, and this is where it is needed most.
