Make sure you stay safe as the storm is predicted to be from 12am till 11.54pm
On Saturday, forecasters warned there could be heavy showers, thunderstorms and lightening strikes from the early hours of the morning on Sunday. But on Saturday afternoon, the warning was extended to midnight on Tuesday.
Forecasters are predicting heavy showers and thunderstorms that will be ongoing from overnight and expected to continue to affect parts of the UK throughout Monday. The thunderstorms are expected to gradually move eastward, but the extent of these thunderstorms remains very uncertain. While many places will miss them, some places may see 30 to 40 mm of rain fall in less than an hour and perhaps more than 60 to 80mm in one or two places.
Yorkshire will be one of the areas expected to be drenched by the storm with 16 to 32 mm of rain per hour. Areas affected include: Sheffield, Leeds, Bradford, York, Doncaster, Scarborough, Northallerton and Bridlington. The Met office said: "Today will be a cloudy start, with further heavy showers, perhaps thundery, but soon clearing north. Staying rather cloudy for much of the day, with further isolated showers possible. Some brighter spells developing later. Maximum temperature 22 °C.
"As high pressure moves away to the east through this weekend, our weather will continue to be more unsettled as we start next week, with spells of rain and showers in places and more cloudy conditions than of late. "A changeable period with showers at times, these heaviest and most frequent on Tuesday, with longer drier spells developing as the week goes on. Average temperatures for early September."
