There is set to be light rain changing to thunder by late morning, according to the Met Office

Thunderstorms could hit Greater Manchester at the weekend. The Met Office has said that light rain showers could turn to thunder by late Saturday morning.

Saturday will still feel quite muggy, with temperatures reaching 18C. But the weather will be much more unsettled compared to how it has been this week. Thunderstorms and rain showers are likely to be intermittent throughout most of Saturday's daylight hours, until around 9pm, the Met Office has forecast.

"Areas further north and west will see more frequent showers, some of which will be heavy, and will at times extend south into central areas of England and Wales on Saturday and Sunday. Monday, which is a Bank Holiday for those in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, will probably see band of showery rain clear from eastern England early in the day, with sunny spells and scattered showers following on for most places. There are no signals for significant heat in the current forecast period.

And looking further ahead into next week, an unsettled regime is likely to continue next week with a westerly airflow likely to continue the theme of showers and some longer spells of rain.
