News Corp has axed a number of its senior editorial staff amid a major restructure of its Australia n media empire. Casualties of the restructure include news.com.au editor-in-chief Lisa Muxworthy, who had been with News Corp for more than 20 years, and had led the site since 2020. Group director of the company’s Editorial Innovation Centre John McGourty, who is a former deputy editor of The Daily Telegraph and has worked with the company since 2000, was also made redundant in the restructure.

au and the company’s other digital brands; a division for state and community mastheads will include The Daily Telegraph, the Herald-Sun and other state and local mastheads; and a third division for prestige mastheads will include publications such as The Australian, Vogue Australia, and GQ Australia. Staff were told that some people affected by the restructure “will regrettably leave our business,” The Guardian reported. More redundancies are expected.
