A total fire ban will be in place across all of New South Wales until Sunday as experts warn people to stay indoors to avoid extreme heat conditions
A total fire ban will be in place across all of NSW until Sunday as experts warn people to stay indoors to avoid extreme heat conditions.
"A number of containment strategies have been implemented ... but the unfortunate thing is we just won't have these fires contained before these deteriorating conditions later this week."Jane Golding, the acting state manager for the Bureau of Meteorology, said that NSW is looking at temperatures in the daytime of over 10 to 14 degrees above average for this time of year.
American meteorologist Ryan Maue used the term "heat dome" last week to describe the conditions in Australia. But what does that mean? Dr Richard Broome, the director of environmental health for NSW Health said that people should avoid going outside entirely."Be indoors on the hottest part of the day on those two days, stay well hydrated and most importantly, stay in contact with elderly friends, relatives, and neighbours who may be more vulnerable to the heat."
