A Nationals Senator has criticised a new plan from the government to boost ADF recruitment numbers by allowing some foreign citizens to join up, declaring there has “got to be other ways” to fill personnel gaps.

The ADF has been under pressure to boost recruitment for some time. Picture: Glenn Campbell / News Corp Australia Back in February, chief of defence force Angus Campbell revealed the extent of the recruitment woes in a Senate hearing.“Inflow rates remain below the level required to maintain our current force,” he told Estimates.
