A three-year-old boy tragically lost his life in a caravan fire in the small Victorian town of Boort. The incident has left the community reeling, prompting an outpouring of support from locals and the hospital.
Police and arson chemists are at the scene of a fatal fire that claimed the life of a young boy in Boort. The three-year-old boy was found dead after a blaze tore through a caravan parked at a property in Boort on Thursday afternoon. Police at the scene said they believed the boy was asleep in the caravan at the time of the fire. 'The family is totally devastated and wrapping their love around each other and ask that you respect their privacy,' a statement read.
Boort District Health chief executive Donna Doyle, a close friend of the family, said the greater region was in complete shock. 'We just wish that tragedies like this never had to happen to anyone, and never had to happen to anyone that we know and love.' Unimaginable tragedy The town of Boort, in north-central Victoria, is home to around 900 residents but its population swells each summer during the holiday period. 'Words can't describe what a small town does when a tragedy like this happens but everyone comes together,' she said. 'It's impossible not to be touched by what's happened and to feel the emotion that's coming out of everyone directly involved. Ms Doyle confirmed the Boort Hospital was offering support to the family and any impacted community members. Mary and Joe Dalozzo were resting by a pool near the residence when the caravan caught fire. The pair said they heard the CFA alarm blare late on Thursday, before seeing smoke, fire and a hearing a sharp explosion.
