This treatment has been hailed a “game changer” for this little boy who can now avoid dozens of extra needles.
The five-year-old was diagnosed with severe haemophilia A at six days old, a condition where his blood doesn’t clot properly, requiring him to visit The Children’s Hospital at Westmead at least three times a week to receive treatment.
“As a nurse said to me, he’s a little boy first, and his haemophilia is second. It’s really important it doesn’t take over his life.” “Imagine one less injection per week, or 50 less injections a year and what that means to a family and their child? It’s huge. It also means less infections, less children needing ports and that we can teach even more families how to give treatment at home.”
