Police say a spate of robberies in the Dubbo region overnight are linked to the alleged theft. It is the second police pursuit to have occurred in the city in the space of a week.

Dubbo has had its second police pursuit in a week involving children as the city continues to battle a car theft rate well above the New South Wales average.Robberies were committed in three towns in the region after the alleged theft of the vehicle

In the most recent incident three people on a motorbike who police said were armed with machetes allegedly stole an unattended vehicle that was left running in the city's CBD.The Holden Caprice was pursued through the streets of Dubbo at about 10:30pm before police terminated the chase due to safety concerns.

Police spotted the stolen Holden back in Dubbo just before 4am and followed it to a house in an eastern suburb.
