Norfolk Island residents are bracing for the eye of Tropical Cyclone Gabrielle to directly hit or narrowly miss the Australian territory within hours, battering the island with wind gusts up to 155 km/h.
Norfolk Island is bracing for the impact of category two Tropical Cyclone Gabrielle, with the centre of the category two cyclone expected to pass right over or near the island on Saturday evening. The Emergency Management Norfolk Island issued a red alert at 1pm on Saturday urging residents to take shelter indoors before it makes landfall.

If they choose to leave the island, then the last flight will be leaving fairly shortly,” Mr Watt said.
