A truck crash in Queensland has led to an emergency declaration and exclusion zone due to the spillage of a toxic substance. Police are evacuating properties and diverting traffic in the affected area.
A truck has crashed, spilling a toxic substance on a major Queensland highway, prompting police to call an emergency declaration and exclusion zone due to fears for public safety . Queensland Police made the emergency declaration under the Public Safety Preservation Act (PSPA) after the truck crash ed in Bloomsbury, just south of Proserpine, about 11.30am on Tuesday.
Emergency services were called to the Bruce Highway near Caping Road, following reports a truck had rolled and was leaking a toxic substance. An exclusion zone was established with a 5km radius. Queensland Ambulance Service said it is on standby due to the incident, but has yet to report any injuries. Police are currently evacuating properties along Stafford Road, Campbells Road, Caping Road and O’Donnells Road. Traffic is being diverted at Kunipipi Road for southbound traffic and Midge Point Road for northbound traffic. Motorists are urged to avoid the area or expect significant delays. More to come..
