Scott Morrison is regarded as a much better economic manager than Anthony Albanese, but he is vastly less trustworthy.
Scott Morrison is perceived as vastly less trustworthy than Labor leader Anthony Albanese, and even more untrustworthy than Tony Abbott at his most unpopular.
His trust rating is also 5 percentage points lower than the previous record low of 35 per cent Mr Abbott recorded in July 2015, just two months before he was deposed by his party as prime minister. The findings underscore a decision by the Coalition to not campaign on trust. Mr Morrison did not mention the word in his opening pitch on the dayThe Coalition is making the economy the main thrust of its campaign and the poll confirms this is a key strength for the Prime Minister.
Mr Albanese’s economic competency rating is well below the 39 per cent Mr Shorten had at the same stage of the 2019 election campaign, which was also a previous record low for the poll.
