After a number of high speed pursuits, police have located and charged two men who allegedly stole a vehicle in the Hunter Region.

An 18-year-old man was charged with the “take & drive conveyance without consent of the owner” on Thursday afternoon.

Officers first observed both men in a white Hyundai Tucson “driving in a manner dangerous” about 5am on Wednesday.Checks on the vehicle revealed it was stolen and had been obtained during a break in, which was reported on Tuesday. Officers began a high speed chase of the vehicle at 4:30am but had to abandon it due to safety concerns.Police had a second failed attempt at pursuing the men who fled the scene.
