BREAKING: An Adelaide father and his wife's teenage daughter are among four Australians identified as victims of the White Island volcano eruption.

Authorities have confirmed an Adelaide lawyer and his teenage stepdaughter are among the dead following the volcanic eruption in New Zealand.

"We mourn the loss of Gavin and Zoe," the Dallow family said in a statement on Wednesday confirming their losses. Jess was a promising AFL player who loved animals and was studying veterinary science at the University of Queensland.“But the hope was snuffed out this morning with the message from the New Zealand police.”The family had been celebrating the 85th birthday of their mother recently and were thrilled that Jess and Julie were embarking on a cruise around New Zealand.“Then when this news hits, there’s this enormous deep-felt tragedy.

Jesse Langford, 19, was among 19 Australians who were unaccounted for on Wednesday morning after the dormant volcano sprang to life with 47 people on top of it on Monday afternoon.

The gruesome task of scouring the ash-covered White Island was expected to occur today as families of the missing wait for agonising phone calls that their loved ones’ bodies have been found.
