Two truck drivers who travelled into Queensland have tested positive to COVID, with the new community-acquired cases still “under investigation” in the state.

One of the truck drivers stopped for fuel in St George, about 500 kilometres west of Brisbane near the border with NSW, and also stayed overnight.The truck drivers’ positive tests were detected in a NSW lab as a result of routine testing every seven days.There was also one overseas-acquired case detected in hotel quarantine and three overseas-acquired cases on a marine base.

The modelling predicted that opening up at 70 per cent vaccine coverage of the adult population with partial public health measures would lead to 385,983 symptomatic cases and 1457 deaths over six months.
