A man has been killed in a shooting in Melbourne ’s north, and two men are under police guard in hospital. Emergency services were called to a property on Gentles Ave in Campbellfield at 10.10pm on Friday after the were told a man had been shot. They arrived to find the man with life-threatening injuries. The 60-year-old man was rushed to hospital, but could not be saved and died. A 20-year-old man from Yarraville and a 22-year-old man from Westmeadows are now under police guard in hospital.

The pair “came to police attention after being dropped at a hospital with injuries”, Victoria Police said. They are yet to be interviewed by police. There is a crime scene in place and homicide detectives are investigating. Forensics were seen taking photos of items on the road on Saturday morning, including a rifle. “Detectives are also investigating whether the discovery of a burnt-out car in Northbourne Rd in Campbellfield just after 11pm is linked to the incident,” Victoria Police said.
