Unemployment set to rise as Australians are warned of downward pressure on wages

The Australian economy needs to produce a record 35,000 new jobs per month for the employment level to stay stable, says Macrobusiness co-founder Leith Van Onselen. “The demand for jobs isn’t high enough to soak up all those additional workers coming in,” Mr Van Onselen told Sky News host Caleb Bond. 'That means unemployment is going to rise and that is also going to put downward pressure on wages.”
