breaking Australian golfer Minjee Lee has won the US Open by four shots to pocket the biggest cheque in women's golf history
There’s no trouble for Minjee Lee on the 162-yard par-three 16th, with her tee shot safely in the heart of the green with a nine iron.
It must be an awesome feeling for 26-year-old Lee to play these final few holes virtually knowing she’s got the tournament in the bag, and a massive $2.5 million cheque to go with it.It’s another par-five and it’s the longest hole on the course, a 533-yard beast which is advantage Minjee Lee given she can muscle the ball down there a bit further than Mina Harigae.
There’s no thought of laying up from 271 yards, firing a fairway wood to the heart of the green. Brilliant. Wouldn’t you even consider taking a short iron and just making sure you’re in the fairway? I suppose when you’re as confident as what Lee is at the moment, there’s no point holding back.
