A new report from Pickles automotive auction house shows that used electric vehicle batteries are holding up well, with average battery health exceeding 90 percent even in vehicles with over 120,000 kilometers on the odometer. Hyundai EVs showed the most impressive battery health at 99.31 percent, followed by BYD Auto at 98.62 percent. While Tesla's sales are slumping, the Australian electric vehicle market is expected to grow with new brands entering later this year, offering consumers more choice and competitive pricing.
For years, the biggest concern around buying a secondhand electric vehicle has been battery life: Can EVs go the distance? A new report from automotive auction house Pickles has found they can. The company tested more than 250 used electric vehicles and found average battery health exceeded 90 per cent, even for vehicles with more than 120,000km on the odometer.
31 per cent battery health, with BYD Auto closely following at 98.62 per cent, both surpassing the well-established Tesla brand which is currently experiencing a slump in sales. Sales of the Elon Musk-owned company in Australia were down by a third in January, compared with this time last year. But overall interest in the electric market is set to reignite later this year when an influx of new brands arrives.
