AFL: Nathan Buckley has revealed that he would be interested in being involved with the new AFL team based in Tasmania.
Collingwood legend Nathan Buckley has “interest” in potentially becoming the first coach of the new Tasmania Devils coach when they enter the League in 2028.
Buckley has repeatedly denied interest in a return to senior coaching over the past two years since he took on a role in the media but did not rule out potentially spearheading the first Devils AFL side. “I have interest in what that organisation is going to look like and how it’s going to come together, if there’s 100 steps, I haven’t even taken step one to understand it,” Buckley replied.“I think it’s a very different proposition to the other 17 roles,” said Buckley.Melbourne champion Garry Lyon pointed out how Buckley has always blatantly denied a return to the coaches box, but has not yet ruled out becoming the inaugural coach of the Devils.
“It’s something that I would like to have a look at and to learn more about, to understand more about whether there was a synergy there that was for the club’s benefit,” Buckley replied.
