BREAKING: Premier Gladys Berejiklian has announced 1431 new Covid-19 infections and 12 deaths were detected in NSW in the past 24 hours.
But there were some signs of hope with Premier Gladys Berejiklian revealing at least 120,000 more people got vaccinated in the last 24 hours.
However Ms Berejiklian warned despite high vaccination rates, cases could still spike over the next two weeks before starting to slowly decline.The NSW Premier confirmed 12 new deaths. Picture: NCA NewsWire / Christian Gilles The others included a man in his 70s from south eastern Sydney who died at St George Hospital. A man in his 70s from south western Sydney also died at St George Hospital.A man in his 80s, two women in their 70s and a woman in her 60s, all from south western Sydney, died at Liverpool Hospital.
“We are pleased to provide that information next week in conjunction with our plans for how we have quadrupled our ventilators and increased our ICU capacity and what plans are in place to make sure everyone has a degree of confidence that I have that our system has been working at it for 18 months,” she said.At the moment there are 979 Covid-19 cases in hospital with 160 people in intensive care, 63 of whom require ventilation.
