There is one rule currently imposed by the Victorian Health Department which is “plainly wrong and needs to change” according to Sky News host Sharri Markson. On Wednesday, Ms Markson reported the Victorian Health Department has been “turning people away” from receiving coronavirus tests after employees at a Melbourne McDonalds were refused tests after coming into contact with a person who contracted the virus.
The Victorian Department of Health stated asymptomatic testing is currently only recommended for people associated with an outbreak, returned travellers, and close contacts of known cases on or close to day 11 following their last exposure to the case, Ms Markson said. “We know you can be infected with COVID-19 - and spread it - even if you don't have symptoms,” Ms Markson said. “This rule from the Victorian Health Department is plainly wrong and needs to change”.
