BREAKING: Victoria has recorded 22 new locally acquired Covid-19 infections on Wednesday as the state entered its seven-day lockdown extension.

The state’s health department confirmed the new local virus cases about 8.45am but in a positive sign for the state’s lockdown, they said all 22 were linked to existing outbreaks that have stemmed from NSW.

As of Tuesday night, the source of one case announced that day – a woman aged in her 20s from Melbourne's north – remained under investigation.
