Victoria has recorded its second COVID-19 death within the last 24 hours, bringing the state’s total to 22.
A man in his 90s died in hospital on Sunday while state Health Minister Jenny Mikakos confirmed a man in his 60s succumbed to the disease on Monday. The death brings Australia’s COVID-19 death toll to 107.
The deaths come as Victoria grapples with an outbreak of the novel pathogen, with 127 cases recorded in the last 24 hours. The outbreak prompted Premier Daniel Andrews to close the borders between Victoria and NSW, to ensure the disease does not spread further.
