Fed up with the threat of floods, Victorian resident Tuesday Browell is thought to be the first private Australian resident to import war-zone technology to protect her home.
It's been two years since floodwater devastated parts of Victoria, but Tuesday Browell is still cleaning up at her property in Torrumbarry , near Echuca , on the Victoria-New South Wales border."There was a spa bath down there that wasn't ours. You can still see the flood level on trees near the lagoon on Ms Browell's property, which is also home to more thanTime seems to move more slowly on this pocket of native bushland.
The central Victorian town of Rochester, 30 kilometres south of Echuca, was the worst hit, displacing most of its 1,000 residents. The units, which are bullet and blast-proof, are used by the military, including the US Army, to create forts. But, she said, sourcing the product as a private person was costly and difficult.
"As a community, we knew the cavalry wouldn't be coming because it hadn't for the last 50 years," said Torrumbarry resident Helen Williams.
