The Victorian government has announced measures to increase the duration of family violence intervention orders and strengthen anti-stalking laws. It's also providing more resources to tackle toxic masculinity in schools.
The Victorian government has announced reforms to family violence laws including extending intervention orders.Intervention orders and stalking laws will be overhauled as part of a package of Victorian family violence reforms.
Currently, most of the orders last between six to 12 months and victims can be required to return to court. Ms Allan said the announcements were part of the government's response to the Royal Commission into Family Violence. The stalking offence will also be changed following a report from the Victorian Law Reform Commission, with legislation to be introduced to parliament in 2025.Programs rolled out in Victorian schools
